FAQ
Common questions about account lifetime, email forwarding and the confirmation it needs, how message content is rendered safely, and account creation limits.
How long does a temporary address last?
168 hours from creation by default. An administrator can change that value, and your account's expiry is always shown on the inbox page.
Can I reopen an inbox I created earlier?
Yes, as long as its lifetime hasn't expired. Go to the Inbox page and enter the full address along with its password. This is why you should keep the password shown when the account was created - it is not shown again.
Why isn't an address created as soon as the page loads?
Because creating an account for every visitor - including search engine crawlers and people who close the page immediately - wastes server capacity and database rows. An account is now only created when you press the button.
Can my mail be forwarded elsewhere?
Yes, set up from the inbox page rather than while the account is being created. Enter a destination address and we email one confirmation link to it; until whoever holds that address opens the link, nothing is forwarded. One inbox may have at most 3 destinations.
What exactly gets forwarded?
A readable copy of the message: the sender, the subject, the plain-text body, and the names of any attachments. The attachments themselves are not forwarded - the original files stay in the temporary inbox and can only be downloaded from there. A long body is trimmed.
Is it safe to open message content?
Message content is sanitized server-side to strip scripts and event handlers, then rendered inside an isolated frame where it cannot execute code or read page data. Links inside an email still need your own judgement before you click them.
How many accounts can I create?
There is a per-IP limit on accounts created within 24 hours, set by an administrator. If you hit it, wait a while before creating the next one.
Is this end-to-end encrypted?
No. Incoming mail is stored in a form the system can read and is technically accessible to service administrators. Don't use a temporary address for confidential information.
How do I use my own domain?
Contact us about a partner account. An administrator creates it, after which you can register your own domains and manage the email accounts under them from the partner portal.
